After serving on the Republic School Board for several terms, Sr. Financial Advisor Tammy Messier became aware of an impactful organization called Care to Learn. She is now on the Advisory Council for the Republic chapter of this nonprofit.
Care to Learn partners with schools and community members to help meet needs in the areas of health, hunger, and hygiene so every K-12 student can be successful in school. Simple things like a meal, a coat, or a pair of glasses often stand between a child and their ability to learn.
In addition, the Republic Care to Learn Chapter also provides a robust weekend food backpack program for students known as “Tiger Totes.” Backpacks include shelf-stable essentials, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack items for the weekend. They also have clothing stores set up like a real store that students can shop in free of charge to meet their clothing needs.
Founded in Springfield by Doug Pitt in 2007, Care to Learn has expanded to 24 chapters in surrounding areas.
